Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS): Deadline for Compliance - 5th December 2015

UK organisations must report compliance for the Environment Agency's mandatory energy assessment scheme, ESOS, by 5th December this year.

 

Generally speaking, organistaions with more than 250 employees must consider their entire energy useage over a 12 month period. This includes: buildings, transport and commercial processes. The ESOS assessment must gain board level sign off and be verified by a Lead ESOS Assessor.

Charity Ball in Aid of Hospice in the Weald

Hospice in the WealdHome and GardenThe Spa Hotel in Tunbridge Wells was the venue for the Home and Garden Winter Ball 2014. The 'Black Tie' Event was hosted by Jamie Murdoch and Rebecca Turner of Home and Garden Property Refurbishment Limited. Jamie and Rebecca organised a splendid evening with all the proceeds being donated to Hospice in the Weald, Pembury, Kent.

Tickets for the evening included a champagne and canape reception, followed by a 3 course dinner. After the dinner guests were treated to live entertainment by the band, "Covers in Arms". A raffle and auction also took place and among the many excellent prizes were a holiday for two on the island of Tobago, a Porsche racing day at Silverstone and an Apple Macbook Air.

A cheque for over £5,000 raised on the night has been presented to Sara Clark, Corporate Fundraising Manager at the Hospice in the Weald. BBS is proud to have sponsored the Event in acknowledgement of the tremendous work done by all the staff and volunteers at the Hospice.

Work is nearing completion on the St Andrews project in Bromley-by-Bow, London. The development consists of three linear blocks and two tower blocks - one at each end of the site - comprising a total of 983 residential units,commercial units and a health centre. BBS Environmental has completed SAPs, Code Level 3 and SBEM calculations across the five blocks.

This former Ford Motor Company building is being adapted to include three additional floors which will be housed under a glass dome. Once completed, the Grade II Listed building will provide over 115,000 sq. ft. of office space across six floors and enhance the skyline by day and night.

CIOB Construction Professionals Dinner, July 2014

CIOB Annual Dinner, Special Guest Speaker; Gyles BrandrethThe Tudor Park Hotel and Country Club, Maidstone was the setting for the prestigious annual CIOB Kent Construction Professionals’ Dinner.

Chair of the CIOB Kent Centre, Keith Etheridge MCIOB, welcomed honoured guests including the Vice President of the CIOB Chris Chivers FCIOB.

Gyles Brandreth, principle speaker, entertained the guests with his witty anecdotes about his time in politics and as a television presenter. Magician Adam Smith, ‘Magic Ad’, kept the guests spellbound with his amazing magic tricks.

Thanks were given to principal sponsors for the event BBS Building Control and Limen Construction. Additional sponsors included: IMS Ltd; Kier; Pyramid Consulting Ltd; and WW Martin.

The nominated charity for the evening was Hi Kent, the Kent registered charity for deaf and hard of hearing people. John Clayton, CEO, and Debra Jones, Press Officer, attended the dinner as representatives of Hi Kent providing guests with an insight into the work of the charity. Prizes for the raffle held on the evening to raise funds for this worthy cause were kindly donated by local companies including AD Bly Construction ; BAM Construction; BBS Building Control; Cablesheer; Evolution 5; Holiday Inn Ashford; Tudor Park; Meadowside Building Developments Ltd; Sweet Group; Walker Construction and WW Martin.
